On the weekend of Jan 22-24, 2021 we will flood the streets with kindness!
This idea helped launch our group in 2015, and we will celebrate #Kindflash by again collecting, packaging and distributing warm clothing items of hats, gloves, socks, and scarves.
HOW TO HELP:
Sign up here: SIGN UP
1. Collect or purchase new or handmade items (if you need help, we have volunteers with extra items to share)
2. Inventory how many of each item you have (we keep track of what we put out for a final count)
3. Place two different items (such as hat and scarf) in a one-gallon sized zip lock bag, along with a #Kindflash card (we will mail you)
4. Anytime during the weekend of Jan 22-24, place the bags in areas of high foot traffic in the neighborhood you signed up for, such as at bus stops, on park benches, tied to telephone poles, etc.
5. Take photos and post them to our Facebook page or email them and we will post. : )
Every year, it takes over a hundred volunteers to pull this off, and it is always a great feeling to see the impact we are able to make across all the neighborhoods in our city! It would be wonderful if you can join us!!!
Due to Covid, we will not have drop boxes at local businesses - instead, volunteers will gather and distribute items directly. We will also incorporate new items to maintain the highest possible levels of safety.
To minimize the possibility of contamination, there will be no public drop-boxes this year. Volunteers will acquire items on their own for distribution. If you wish to volunteer, but do not have access to items, there are many extra (and some pre-packaged) items available. When you sign up, you can indicate that you are in need of items.
Only new/unused items will be distributed this year. If you wish to donate gently used items, we will post a link of organizations accepting clothing donations.
